Miss Harriett began her dance training at the age of three at Siân Dixon School of Dance, where she discovered her love for dance and performance under the guidance of Miss Siân. It was here that her passion for teaching and sharing the joy of dance was first inspired.
She went on to continue her training at Preston Dance College, where she further developed her technical skills, achieved her recognised dance teaching qualifications, and graduated with a first-class degree.
Following graduation, Miss Harriett travelled to Canada, where she spent four years teaching dance and gaining valuable international experience. Her love for home and strong family ties eventually brought her back to South Wales, where she was motivated to open her own dance school. Alongside running the school, Miss Harriett also chose to further her professional development by studying with the Guildford School of Acting gaining a BA (Hons) and a PGCET from University of Wales Trinity Saint David, expanding her skill set and deepening her knowledge of dance, performance and teaching.
Miss Harriett is passionate about giving back to the community she grew up in and is dedicated to providing high-quality training, supportive teaching, and inspiring opportunities for every student. Her goal is to share the joy, confidence, and sense of belonging that dance has brought to her own life, and to help each dancer discover that same love for movement and performance.

Her training began locally, first with Susan Theodore and then with Miss Browning of Bridgend, before continuing full-time at the The Hammond School in Chester from the age of 16. It was here that she gained her teaching qualifications in RAD Ballet and ISTD Ballet and Modern.
After graduating, she danced professionally abroad for several years in Greece, Portugal, Japan, and South Korea, as well as performing on cruise ships, gaining invaluable experience working within professional dance companies.
She began her teaching career at the dance school attached to Aberystwyth University and later went on to teach at the Swansea Grand Theatre School. Following advice from fellow dance teachers in the area, she established her own dance school in Maesteg. After successfully running the school from 2000 to 2023, she chose to pass it on to a former pupil, Harriett David, while continuing to teach within the school and share her passion for dance and movement.
Our students are extremely fortunate to train with Miss Siân and benefit from her wealth of experience, knowledge, and genuine care for every student she teaches.

Miss Olivia is a much-loved past pupil (from before the school merge) and was trained by the wonderful Miss Siân. At just 18 years old, she secured one of the highly sought-after places at the prestigious Bird College. She went on to graduate with a BA (Hons) in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre.
Following graduation, Miss Olivia enjoyed a successful performing career, working as both a singer and dancer in a variety of five-star resorts. Alongside her performance work, she has also gained valuable professional experience within primary schools, specialising in Special Educational Needs, further developing her skills as a compassionate and versatile teacher.
After several years living and working in London, Miss Olivia is now returning home to Wales to continue her professional development. She is beginning a Master’s degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where she will further refine her musical theatre craft.
Our students are incredibly lucky to learn from a teacher who is actively working within the industry and brings current, real-world experience into every class.

"Olivia joined HDAD aged four. A quiet shy little girl whos had her confidence knocked by ill health hospital stays and school struggles. We were looking for something to help her overcome some of her struggles and give her some enjoyment and make new friends. Little did we know nearly 7 years later aged 11 dance would become a massive part of her life. She has grown into a confident young girl and has made some amazing friends who are now her “dance family”
Every week she bounces in from school and shouts … its dance day and she beams with excitement coming home. She has learnt commitment dedication and that it beautiful things come working from for them!
We as a family are forever grateful to everyone at HDAD who has been involved with Olivia’s dance journey, who has been a huge part of her life and helped shape her into the Olivia she is now. Fun energetic confident and dance mad!!! We dont know where we would be without HDAD!"

"Both my girls have been members of HDAD and the experience has been truly wonderful. They have been nurtured, supported and encouraged to continually improve, both as dancers and as individuals. The dedication, care and commitment shown by the teachers is exceptional, and the girls have always felt valued and motivated.
HDAD offers fantastic opportunities beyond weekly dance lessons, including show trips to London and Cardiff, as well as impressive end-of-year dance shows that the whole family looks forward to. Even during lockdown, the academy went above and beyond by providing Zoom lessons, ensuring the children stayed connected, engaged and supported.
We are incredibly grateful for the constant encouragement, support and passion shown by everyone at HDAD, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to any family."

"Harriet began her journey with HDAD when Miss Harriett brought her classes to Porthcawl in March 2020. Having just turned three, she was captivated from her very first lesson. Through ballet, Harriet has developed invaluable qualities such as discipline, dedication, and resilience.
The teachers at HDAD are exceptional role models for the children, and as a parent, I deeply value and admire not only their professional expertise but also their kindness and unwavering commitment.
Their dedication to the children is truly inspirational. So much so that, by 2025, our youngest daughter, Elodie, is now also nurturing her own love of ballet through HDAD. Her confidence is flourishing, just as her sister's did 5 years ago, and for this I can't thank HDAD enough."
- Alice Shadis
"Our daughter has been dancing with Miss Harriett since she was 4 years old. Now aged 11, I can honestly say she loves it more than ever. The teachers are professional and qualified which provides a high level of specialist teaching. Something which was so important to me as a parent when I was looking for the "right" dance school. She has completed both credited examinations in both ballet and modern dance, with excellent results.
However, HDAD is more than a dance academy; the school nurtures and supports all pupils. Our daughter has made lots of friends outside her primary school and has learnt skills such as dedication and discipline. Whilst having so much fun along the way, she comes out laughing and smiling from every class. The school really has a family centred approach at its core.
We have no doubt our daughter's dance journey will continue for many years to come."
